Description of the alignment “Rescue Service”
The global situation with its enormous catastrophes and wars going on affect a lot of people and makes high demands on humanitarian contributions. Within the rescue service people with knowledge and competence are needed in a great extent.
The alignment rescue service provides you with knowledge of rescue work, preventive rescue work, catastrophe risks, risk management, crisis management, mountain rescue, sea rescue and a lot more within the field rescue work.
You will also get an insight in and knowledge of peoples´ necessities under certain risk circumstances, of the significance in how to interact with people in exposed situations, along with knowledge of and experience in work at high preparedness. The upper secondary school education gives a total amount of 2500 points (one point is one hour), 300 of these points are from rescue service alignment. These points are divided into two courses; general rescue service along with remaining rescue service.
During your first year you will study the theoretical parts at the school and the practical part of the rescue service you will make at the fire station in Hudiksvall for a week. You will stay at the fire station and take part in different exercises, smoke dive exercise with search, physical tests, material care and a lot more. The second year the exercise part of the rescue service is located in Eskilstuna. You will go there a few times during the second year.
During the third year you will deepen your knowledge of sea rescue and the exercise will be done in Mariehamn – Åland at the Maritime Safety Centre. Local curriculum of the Rescue Service: General rescue service Remaining rescue service |
